Job Summary
Field Service Engineer at Applied Materials in Shaoxing, China responsible for installing, maintaining, and upgrading customer equipment, coordinating directly with customers, and using digital analytics for troubleshooting. Performs preventative and corrective maintenance on electrical, vacuum, mechanical, plasma, hydraulic, and gas systems (training provided). Requires 1–2 years of field service support or related technical experience, an associate degree or equivalent, and travel up to 20%. Travel-ready with a valid driver’s license and passport; on-site responsibilities in a clean-room environment with appropriate PPE; strong communication and ability to read schematics and use basic diagnostic techniques.
Required Qualifications
- Completion of an Associate degree, military technical training, field service experience, or trade certification
- 1–2 years of work experience in customer/field service support, or a related technical field
- Ability to read and interpret electrical and mechanical schematics
- Experience diagnosing and resolving basic technical challenges
- Basic mechanical aptitude with pneumatics, hydraulics, electronics, vacuum, or thermodynamics
- Familiarity with hand tools and their appropriate usage, including digital multimeters
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
- Basic knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
- Possession of a valid driver’s license and the ability to obtain a passport, if travel is required
- Able to meet all on-site requirements, including safety, environmental guidelines, and COVID-19 protocols
