Job Summary
Trim and customize meat portions using knives, band saws, or other production equipment while reading cut tickets and stacking labeled trays per customer specifications. Set up the cutting room as required and maintain sanitary conditions by following GMP guidelines and keeping areas clean. Work continually in a refrigerated environment of 35°F-45°F, standing and frequently lifting, carrying, and moving boxes with occasional driving. Complete miscellaneous duties as assigned, with finish time dependent on workload which may require overtime without notice.
Required Qualifications
- Skilled as a specialty meat cutter using knives
- Minimum (1) year experience as a meat cutter
- Ability to work in a fast-paced production environment
- Ability to read and understand customers' specifications and do basic math functions
- High school diploma or GED equivalent
- Knowledge of poultry, beef, lamb, and pork products including USDA grades and standards
- Must be able to work continually in a refrigerated environment 35°F- 45°F
- Must be able to stand continuously
- Must be able to lift 11-20 lbs frequently
- Must be able to lift 21-50 lbs frequently
- Must be able to carry 21-50 lbs frequently
- Must be able to push/pull frequently
- Must be able to climb/balance frequently
- Must be able to stoop/squat frequently
- Must be able to kneel frequently
- Must be able to bend frequently
- Must be able to reach above shoulder occasionally
- Must be able to twist frequently
- Must be able to grasp objects continuously
- Must be able to manipulate objects frequently
- Must be able to use manual dexterity frequently
Desired Qualifications
- Experience with band saws, laser portion machinery or other meat production equipment
- Knowledge of NAMA guidelines and product cut numbers
