Job Summary
Sweep, mop, and vacuum floors in school buildings; wash walls, woodwork, and fixtures; and empty trash receptacles while policing assigned areas. Scrub restroom fixtures, replenish tissues and soap, replace light bulbs, and perform minor furniture repairs. Turn heating and air conditioning equipment on and off, unload deliveries, and sort materials for recycling. Maintain positive relations and follow simple directions under general supervision. Requires a valid North Carolina driver's license, high school diploma, and ability to lift 50 pounds. Full-time, 12-month term, 10:00 AM–6:30 PM.
Required Qualifications
- Some experience in housekeeping
- Must possess a valid North Carolina driver's license
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Must be physically able to operate vacuum cleaners, carpet shampooers, brooms, mops, leaf blowers, etc.
- Must be physically able to lift up to a minimum of 50 pounds
- Must be able to exert up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to push, pull, and carry or otherwise move objects
- Requires climbing, stooping, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping and repetitive motion
- May require working on ladders
- Requires the ability to coordinate hands and eyes rapidly and accurately in using janitorial equipment
- Requires the ability to handle a variety of items such as janitorial equipment
- Must have minimal levels of eye/hand/foot coordination
- Requires the ability to talk and hear
