Job Summary
Custodian responsible for the cleanliness and sanitation of all areas assigned, including hazardous waste handling, operating motorized cleaning equipment, reporting incidents, and maintaining a professional and safe work environment. Must work with a team, follow safety policies, and perform duties per a daily schedule, with emphasis on maintaining facilities and ensuring customer service standards. Chosen candidate will perform janitorial tasks, hazardous waste responsibilities (classifying, sorting, storing, shipping and receiving, labeling, cleaning, recycling, packaging), and participate in shift activities from 2:30pm to 11pm. Basic literacy to read instructions and procedures, plus willingness to comply with safety certifications and possible forklift training. The role requires good communication with supervisors, co-workers, managers, and customers, and adherence to company policies and reporting systems.
Required Qualifications
- No specific education requirement
- 3-6 months training or experience preferred
- May be required to have a valid driver’s license
- May be required to be forklift certified
- Bilingual a plus
- Ability to read and interpret instructions, procedures, manuals, and other documents
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Knowledge of cleaning methods and equipment
- Knowledge of cleaning compounds and chemicals, and their safe, efficient use
- Ability to lift and/or move up to 35 pounds
