Job Summary
Custodian maintains cleanliness of office spaces and campus-wide areas. Responsibilities include cleaning and maintenance tasks such as removing trash, washing windows, cleaning bathrooms and showers, mopping, vacuuming, stripping and waxing tile/floors, shampooing carpets, operating and maintaining cleaning equipment, and assisting with event setup. Follows safety procedures for handling chemicals and PPE. May assist colleagues as needed and may work weekends. Requires physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs and to stand, bend, and stoop for extended periods. Position is non-exempt and part-time at Union College in Schenectady, NY.
Required Qualifications
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to stand, bend and stoop for extended periods.
- Safety-conscious and able to read/write English instructions.
- Weekend work may be required.
- Valid NYS driver’s license preferred but not required for part-time employment.
