Job Summary
Conduct routine building custodial duties, general maintenance, and grounds care under supervision. Sweep, dust, mop, and wax floors; maintain security by opening/closing facilities and reporting suspicious conditions. Identify and report maintenance needs, unsafe conditions, or vandalism. Operate heavy industrial buffers, clean plumbing fixtures, stock washrooms, and move furniture. Clear sidewalks of snow and ice, perform lawn maintenance, and handle minor repairs like painting and window washing. Set up rooms for meetings and events. Perform duties independently while following safety procedures and handling chemicals correctly.
Required Qualifications
- Ability to understand and carry out oral and written instructions
- Ability to use cleaning tools and operate cleaning equipment
- Ability to work collaboratively with members of the public and other employees
- Ability to perform assigned duties independently with limited supervision and effectively manage assigned work within established timeframes
- Ability to understand and follow safety instructions, product labels, and Safety Data Sheets (SDS)
- Knowledge of modern building cleaning methods
- Flexibility in availability to meet division staffing needs
- Ability to lift objects weighing fifty pounds
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods and to bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, push, pull, and climb ladders and stairs as required to perform custodial duties
- Ability to move heavy equipment or furniture
- Ability to work indoors and outdoors and in varying weather conditions
- Sufficient strength and physical ability to safely use hand tools and equipment required for routine custodial and minor maintenance duties
- Successful candidates may be subject to a pre-employment physical exam
- Candidate will be required to pass a BCI (Criminal Investigation) as well as a physical, back and drug screen
