Job Summary
Conduct routine cleaning of school buildings and assigned sections, including mopping floors, washing walls and windows, dusting, vacuuming carpets, and collecting rubbish. Perform semi-skilled maintenance and repair tasks such as fixing shelving, replacing hardware, adjusting flush valves, and operating heating and ventilating systems. Maintain grounds by cutting grass, trimming shrubbery, raking leaves, and removing snow using power equipment. Supervise lower-level custodial personnel and report damages requiring higher-level repairs. Work 40 hours weekly from Saturday to Wednesday, 6:00am to 2:30pm. Possess a valid Class 5 New York State driver's license and experience in commercial cleaning or building maintenance.
Required Qualifications
- Graduation from High School or Vocational School or possession of a High School Equivalency diploma
- one (1) year of experience in commercial cleaning practice or general building maintenance including experience in any one (1) of the following trades; Carpentry, Electrical, H.V. and A.C. Systems, Plumbing
- Five (5) years of experience in commercial cleaning practices or general building maintenance, including experience in any one (1) of the following trades; Carpentry, Electrical, H.V. and A.C. Systems, Plumbing
- An equivalent combination of training and experience as defined by the limits of (A) and (B)
- Possession of a valid Class 5 New York State's driver's license at the time of appointment
