Job Summary
Sweep sidewalks and walkways, mop and vacuum floors, scrub bathrooms, and empty trash receptacles while maintaining school building cleanliness. Shovel snow, apply de-icing compounds, dust furniture, clean windows, and organize storage rooms. Open and secure buildings, manage lighting and HVAC, unload deliveries, and perform minor appliance maintenance. Requires a valid North Carolina driver's license, physical ability to lift up to 100 pounds, and high school diploma or equivalency.
Required Qualifications
- General knowledge of the standard methods, materials, and equipment employed in janitorial work
- Some knowledge of cleaning procedures and the use of cleaning materials
- Ability to follow instructions
- Ability to exercise independent judgment and initiative in completing work assignments
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships as necessitated by work assignments
- Has a proven attendance record
- Must be physically able to operate vacuum cleaners, carpet shampooers, brooms, mops, leaf blowers, etc.
- Must be able to exert up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to push, pull, and carry or otherwise move objects
- Requires climbing, stooping, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping and repetitive motion
- May require working on ladders
- Requires the ability to coordinate hands and eyes rapidly and accurately in using janitorial equipment
- Requires the ability to handle a variety of items such as janitorial equipment
- Must have minimal levels of eye/hand/foot coordination
- Requires the ability to talk and hear
- Must possess a valid North Carolina driver's license
