Job Summary
Sweep, mop, and vacuum floors in school rooms, hallways, and closets while washing walls, woodwork, and fixtures. Scrub restroom fixtures, empty trash receptacles, and replenish tissues, towels, and soap in classrooms and kitchens. Replace light bulbs, lock and unlock doors, and perform minor furniture or facility repairs. Operate heating and air conditioning systems, unload deliveries, and sort materials for recycling. Maintain positive working relations while following oral or written directions. Requires a valid North Carolina driver's license, high school diploma, and ability to lift 50 pounds. Full-time, 12-month term from 10:00 AM to 6:30 PM.
Required Qualifications
- Some experience in housekeeping
- Must possess a valid North Carolina driver's license
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Must be physically able to operate vacuum cleaners, carpet shampooers, brooms, mops, leaf blowers, etc.
- Must be physically able to lift up to a minimum of 50 pounds
- Must be able to exert up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to push, pull, and carry or otherwise move objects
- Ability to maintain positive working relations
- Ability to understand and follow simple oral or written directions
- Working knowledge of cleaning methods, materials and equipment
- Some knowledge of procedures to operate heating and air conditioning equipment
- Skill in the use of small equipment used in routine cleaning
- Ability to coordinate hands and eyes rapidly and accurately in using janitorial equipment
- Ability to handle a variety of items such as janitorial equipment
- Must have minimal levels of eye/hand/foot coordination
- Ability to talk and hear
