Job Summary
Perform daily cleaning services in accordance with established procedures and standard operating procedures (SOPs) for a laboratory and vivarium environment. Clean and sanitize offices, laboratories, hallways, restrooms, and other assigned spaces by sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, dusting, and disinfecting floors, furniture, fixtures, and high-touch surfaces. Complete deep cleaning assignments, office restoration projects, and other special tasks as assigned. Empty trash and recycling containers, maintain janitorial closets and equipment, and use cleaning chemicals safely. Inspect work areas for hazards and report maintenance issues to management. Follow all safety procedures and facility regulations while wearing required PPE. High school diploma required; 1–2 years of custodial experience preferred.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods throughout the workday
- Frequently bend, stoop, kneel, reach, and lift cleaning equipment and supplies
- Ability to lift up to 40 pounds on a regular basis
- Comfortable working in a laboratory/vivarium environment while wearing required PPE
Desired Qualifications
- 1–2 years of custodial, janitorial, hospitality, or commercial cleaning experience
- Experience cleaning laboratory or healthcare environments
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to cleanliness
- Ability to follow written procedures and safety guidelines
- Basic computer skills
- Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English
- Strong work ethic with the ability to work independently and as part of a team
