Job Summary
Maintain a clean and neat school facility and grounds for students, teachers, staff, and community members to protect their health and safety. Clean designated spaces, equipment, and materials; perform room and equipment set-up and breakdown for activities and events. Execute seasonal athletic fields and general grounds work, including snow removal via fuel-powered equipment or manual shoveling. Operate various floor equipment such as battery-powered auto-scrubbers, buffers, and propane burnishers. Assist with unloading bulk material from trucks, moving furniture, and maintaining building security. Report building, grounds, and equipment conditions requiring repair. Participate in fire and emergency drills, knowing procedures and the location of first-aid and fire-fighting equipment. Assist visitors utilizing the facilities and preserve assigned tools and equipment. Work Mon-Fri 2:30pm-11:00pm across three elementary schools, with summer hours from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
Required Qualifications
- High School diploma or GED certificate
- Minimum of one (1) year work experience as a custodian and/or groundskeeper
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, students, staff, administrators and community members
- Exhibit effective communication skills
- Being proper stewards of district property, materials and equipment
- Work with a sense of urgency and ability to meet deadlines with severe time constraints
- Ability to perform duties with an awareness of all inspection regulations, safety codes and district requirements and school board policies
- Ability to push, pull and carry a minimum of 50 lbs
- Must have a valid state driver's license
- Reliable transportation to travel between different district buildings on assigned shift
- Must be able to take post-offer; pre-employment drug test and work capacity evaluation (WCE)
