Job Summary
Custodian/Janitor role at The Stephens Family YMCA in Champaign, IL with weekend work being mandatory. Responsible for maintaining cleanliness across all facilities—including fitness spaces, locker rooms, common areas, and aquatics spaces—through tasks such as vacuuming carpeted areas, cleaning fitness equipment, dusting, washing floors, restocking bathrooms, emptying waste, and general cleaning. Additional duties include maintaining presentable floors, washing windows, keeping equipment clean, monitoring inventory, and communicating facility issues to the Maintenance Director. Requires HS diploma or equivalent, CPR/AED certification within 60 days, and ability to meet physical demands; prior cleaning experience is preferred but not required.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Be CPR/AED certified or obtain certification within 60 days of employment
- Must be able to physically meet the demands outlined in this job description
- Good organizational skills and above average human relationship skills
- Previous cleaning experience preferred by not necessary
- Must have skill and maturity to work independently and/or with little supervision
