Job Summary
Custodian III at HHSC Motor Pool responsible for highly complex custodial work in state hospital facilities, including cleaning, sanitizing patient areas and offices, restrooms, and treatment spaces; restocking supplies; inspecting buildings/equipment; assisting in infection-control initiatives; and supporting disaster recovery/COOP readiness. Requires experience in custodial/environmental services, ability to lift 50 pounds, ability to work irregular hours, and ability to follow instructions. Works in a hospital environment with overtime possibilities and a travel obligation up to 10%, located at Austin State Hospital in Austin, TX.
Required Qualifications
- One year of custodial/housekeeping experience in custodial or environmental services in a nursing home, hospital, residential facility, hotel, or similar setting OR eighteen (18) months proven work experience.
- Applicant must pass fingerprint background check, pre-employment drug screen, and registry checks including CANRS, Nurse Aide, Medication Aide and Employee Misconduct lists.
- Males between ages 18-25 must be registered with the Selective Service.
- All applicants must be at least 18 years of age (21 for certain locations) and may be required to pass immunization requirements.
