Job Summary
Scrubs, dusts, sweeps, mops, vacuums, waxes, and polishes floors in rooms, hallways, and closets. Wash windows, woodwork, walls, and other surfaces; scrub and clean restroom fixtures. Replenish tissues, towels, and soap in restrooms, kitchens, and classrooms; empty wastebaskets and trash receptacles. Lock and unlock doors; sort and store materials for the recycling program. Report damages or needed repairs to the supervisor. Turn heating and air conditioning equipment on and off. Perform these routine manual cleaning tasks while following established practices and cleaning schedules. Lift and move up to 50 pounds regularly. This 12-month non-exempt position reports to a Principal, Assistant Principal, or Custodial Supervisor.
Required Qualifications
- Some knowledge of cleaning methods, materials and equipment
- Some skill in the use of small equipment used in routine cleaning
- Ability to understand and follow simple oral or written directions
- Ability to regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
- Ability to occasionally lift and/or move over 50 pounds
- Ability to climb a ladder
- Close vision
- Distance vision
- Color vision
- Peripheral vision
- Depth perception
- Ability to adjust focus
