Job Summary
The Custodian will provide routine cleaning, housekeeping, and basic maintenance services to ensure District buildings are clean, safe, and conducive to learning. Key responsibilities include cleaning and maintaining floors, washing windows and walls, dusting furniture, emptying trash receptacles, performing routine grass trimming, and handling minor building repairs. The role requires basic reading and writing skills, basic math skills, and the ability to follow detailed instructions. A high school diploma or equivalent and one to two years of relevant experience are preferred. While no formal supervisory duties are necessary, the Custodian may assist in training junior coworkers.
Required Qualifications
- Knowledge of routine housekeeping and maintenance practices required
- Basic reading and writing skills
- Basic math skills (weight, volume, and distance measurements)
- Ability to follow detailed written and verbal instructions
- Reliable transportation required
Desired Qualifications
- Commercial cleaning experience preferred
- Experience operating floor equipment (scrubber, buffer, commercial vacuum) and performing waxing/stripping preferred
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to resolve conflicts effectively
