Job Summary
Maintain assigned school facilities in a clean, sanitary, safe, and orderly condition by cleaning classrooms, restrooms, hallways, cafeterias, and other areas. Perform routine custodial duties including sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, disinfecting, and operating equipment while safely handling chemicals. Set up and remove tables, chairs, and equipment for meetings and events, and perform minor maintenance such as changing light bulbs or replacing ceiling tiles. Empty trash receptacles, replenish restroom supplies, and assist with basic grounds maintenance like mowing and snow removal. Inspect areas for safety concerns, report deficiencies to management, and secure buildings by locking doors and activating security procedures. Monitor supply inventory and maintain equipment storage areas. Work indoors and outdoors, lifting up to 75 pounds, while adhering to all District policies and safety regulations. Maintain positive relationships with students, staff, and visitors while providing courteous service.
Required Qualifications
- Ability to read, understand, and follow written and verbal instructions
- Ability to communicate effectively and work cooperatively with students, staff, administrators, contractors, and the public
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while managing assigned responsibilities
- Ability to prioritize work, organize tasks, and respond effectively to changing priorities
- Ability to safely operate custodial equipment, floor care equipment, hand tools, and other maintenance equipment
- Ability to safely handle cleaning chemicals and supplies in accordance with established procedures
- Ability to recognize, troubleshoot, and report maintenance, safety, and security concerns
- Ability to perform moderate to heavy physical labor throughout the workday
- Ability to maintain regular, reliable attendance and punctuality
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others
- Demonstrated aptitude for custodial, cleaning, facilities, or general maintenance work
- Ability to read and write sufficiently to perform assigned duties
- Ability to perform assigned duties with minimal supervision
- Specific vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus
- Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull up to seventy-five (75) pounds

Desired Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Prior custodial, maintenance, or facilities experience is preferred
