Job Summary
Maintain general cleanliness of all school buildings, grounds, and equipment through wet-mopping, sweeping, dusting, and disinfecting restrooms, windows, and fixtures. Perform major cleaning tasks including stripping, sealing, and waxing floors, while emptying trash containers and replenishing restroom supplies. Operate heating and cooling systems, manage boiler rooms, and enter work orders into the Operations Hero program. Make minor repairs, secure doors and windows, and remove ice or snow as needed. Check yard drains weekly, maintain grounds by trimming bushes and removing debris, and perform mandated inspections. Be available for occasional non-work-day emergencies and maintain emotional control under stress. Work independently with minimal supervision while adhering to safety precautions for cleaning agents and equipment.
Required Qualifications
- High School diploma or G.E.D.
- Ability to lift 55 pounds to shoulder height occasionally
- Ability to push/pull a minimum of 20 pounds frequently
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
- Must be able to walk up and down stairs frequently
- Must be able to work independently
- Must have knowledge of the variety and uses of cleaning and sanitizing agents and the safety precautions necessary for their use
- Must have knowledge of the proper care of, and ability to use, cleaning equipment such as mops, brooms, vacuum cleaners, power scrubbers, polishers and buffers
- Must maintain prompt and regular attendance
- Must be able to endure prolonged standing, walking, sitting, kneeling, occasional reaching above the head or the shoulders, bending, squatting, and kneeling
