Job Summary
Conduct general custodial duties including sweeping, vacuuming, and mopping floors; dusting and polishing furniture; cleaning restrooms; emptying waste receptacles; and cleaning windows, decks, and common areas. Set up, move, and arrange furniture; unloads supply deliveries; and maintains custodial equipment and areas to ensure they remain clean and presentable. Launder housekeeping materials as requested and follow established cleaning procedures under the direction of the Team Lead. Report safety matters to the Supervisor and perform other duties as assigned by departmental leadership. This role supports business continuity during campus emergencies as essential personnel, subject to recall outside normal schedules.
Required Qualifications
- Ability to read and understand safety procedures, cleaning instructions, and schedules
- Ability to communicate effectively in the English language sufficient to perform the duties of the position
- Ability to build and maintain an effective working relationship with students, faculty, and staff who are subtly or different than yourself
- Ability to understand and interpret terminology related to the area of work
- Ability to understand and follow the vision, structure, culture, philosophy, values, and code of ethics of the facilities department and Wake Forest University as a whole
- Ability to work independently or as a part of a team
- Subject to both inside and outside environmental conditions including hazards
- High school graduate plus one year of work experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
