Job Summary
Perform general cleaning tasks including vacuuming, sweeping, mopping, and sanitizing restrooms, offices, cafeterias, and sales floors. Operate floor machines for buffing, stripping, waxing, carpet cleaning, and use of scrubbers and extractors safely. Empty wastebaskets, dust furniture, spot clean soiled areas, and wipe down counters, mirrors, vending machines, and appliances. Maintain janitorial equipment in clean, safe, and operable condition while following all safety guidelines and company policies. Work flexible schedules including nights, early mornings, weekends, and holidays as directed by the Lead Custodian or Crew Lead Supervisor. This role supports Prestige Maintenance USA's scalable janitorial services for clients across distribution, fitness, grocery, retail, and transportation industries.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 1–2 years of experience in custodial, janitorial, or cleaning services
- Ability to read and communicate in English
- Physical ability to manually move, lift, carry, pull, or push heavy objects or materials up to 50 pounds
- Ability to operate small power tools
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time to include climbing/descending stairwells and ladders
- Regular, consistent and predictable attendance
- Optional local area travel using personal vehicle
- Ability to enter customer facilities that require background screening
- Basic knowledge of custodial duties and janitorial responsibilities
- Knowledge of cleaning equipment including vacuuming, sweeping, mopping, scrubbing and applying finishes on different flooring materials
- Knowledge of cleaning techniques and processes
- Knowledge of the qualities and uses of various cleaning, sanitizing, stripping, and waxing compounds
- Experience in cleaning and sanitizing washrooms
- Ability to demonstrate importance of safety in the workplace, follow safety rules, practice safe work habits, utilize appropriate safety equipment, and report unsafe conditions to appropriate Supervisor
- Ability to follow directions and work within guidelines
- Must be able to read, understand and follow units of measure on product labels
- Satisfactory personal appearance and hygiene within company guidelines
- Demonstrated ability of maintaining janitorial equipment in a clean, safe and operable condition
- Ability to maintain janitor closets in a clean, organized and safe manner and according to company guidelines and all regulations
- Must be available for nights, early morning, weekends, and holidays
- Must be flexible
