Job Summary

Maintain cleanliness of the Progress South Elementary building, including classrooms, bathrooms, hallways, and outdoor play areas, adhering to daily standards for dusting, mopping, and trash removal. Regulate HVAC systems, manage deliveries, and handle body fluid clean-ups, light bulb changes, and graffiti removal as needed. Perform grounds care such as mowing, snow/ice removal, and flag raising, while ensuring all tools and equipment are maintained. Move furniture, assist with cafeteria operations, and secure the building after events. Work the 5:15am to 1:45pm shift in adverse weather conditions, reporting property damage immediately.

  • Ability to maintain cleanliness of building, premises, and entryways, including stairways, sidewalks, driveways, and play areas, neat and clean at all times
  • Ability to clean desktops, whiteboards, door windows, and windows to outside; high and low dusting; empty trash and pencil sharpeners; sweep/vacuum, dust mop/wet mop classroom floors
  • Ability to clean toilets, urinals, sinks, partition walls, and mirrors; empty trash; refill soap, toilet paper, paper towels, and sanitary products; sweep and mop restroom floor
  • Ability to sweep/dust/mop/auto scrub/burnish hallways; clean and polish water fountains
  • Ability to maintain custodial closets as directed
  • Ability to regulate heat, ventilation, and air conditioning systems to provide temperatures appropriate to the season and to ensure economical usage of fuel, water, and electricity
  • Ability to raise and lower cafeteria tables
  • Ability to lock/unlock doors in accordance with building requirements
  • Ability to perform body fluid clean-up
  • Ability to change and install light bulbs and pencil sharpeners
  • Ability to raise and lower the United States flag daily
  • Ability to keep the grounds free from trash and litter
  • Ability to keep the dumpster area clean and locked at all times
  • Ability to mow and trim as assigned
  • Ability to remove graffiti as needed
  • Ability to remove snow/ice
  • Ability to maintain play areas to ensure a clean, safe, and attractive environment
  • Ability to wash windows
