Job Summary
The Custodian Crew Leader leads and coordinates the Cleaning Crew to maintain the common areas of residential buildings, performing interior and exterior cleaning and light grounds-keeping. Responsibilities include supervising the crew, noting maintenance or safety deficiencies and escalating to supervisory personnel, keeping stairways, walkways, parking areas, and grounds clean, transporting trash and recycling for pickups, and assisting with training and cross-training. The role involves assisting with special projects, attending safety meetings, and working under the direction of the Assistant Superintendent of Building Services. Skills highlighted include safety practices, English proficiency, team leadership, project planning, strong interpersonal and communication abilities, time management, and ability to work with residents. The position requires a High School Diploma/GED (or equivalent), 2 years of housekeeping/maintenance experience, at least 1 year of lead or supervisory experience (preferred), and a valid driver’s license. The job emphasizes organization, reliability, and the ability to perform duties outdoors in varying weather conditions.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma/GED or an equivalent combination of education and work experience
- Minimum two (2) years of housekeeping or maintenance experience in property management or hospitality industry
- Minimum one (1) year of lead or supervisory experience preferred
- Bi-lingual helpful
- Experience with and knowledge of all housekeeping techniques
- Experience with and knowledge of all cleaning tools/equipment
- Knowledge of safety practices
- Ability to read, write, speak and understand English
- Ability to plan and implement assignments and projects
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Strong time management skills
- Conflict resolution skills
- Valid driver's license (or ability to obtain within 30 days), with acceptable driving history preferred. State identification card minimum required
- Must pass a background check and drug screen
