Job Summary

Maintain a healthy, safe, and attractive environment for students and staff by performing custodial and preventative maintenance duties across all district facilities. Clean woodwork, walls, furniture, and windows using approved equipment and products; mop, scrub, strip, wax, shampoo, vacuum, and spot-clean carpeting and floors with both manual and power tools. Climb ladders and stairwells to complete tasks, move furnishings for cleaning and event preparation, and operate small equipment and hand tools safely. Keep supplies stocked, maintain inventory, and respond immediately to safety or operational concerns. Follow federal and state laws, Board policies, and established safety procedures while adhering to work schedules and attendance requirements.

Required Qualifications

  • Standard high school diploma or satisfactory completion of any General Educational Development (GED) Testing Program
  • Basic experience, skills, and training with fundamental knowledge of cleaning, floor and restroom care, and equipment maintenance
  • Desire to learn the trade and further knowledge through off-duty study and trade school/courses
  • Able to climb and work from ladders and scaffolding
  • Ability to lift and/or carry heavy objects (up to 35 pounds) long distances (more than 20 feet)
  • Must be willing to work in undesirable locations/conditions
  • Must be able to follow both written and oral instructions and carry out assignments on time
  • Able to work well with others
  • Possess and maintain valid and appropriate license, certificate and/or credential as may be required for this position
  • Follow work scheduling and attendance requirements in a regular, predictable, dependable, and punctual manner
  • Participate in required training programs and on-the-job training to increase proficiency; and apply what is learned to the job
  • Maintain security and accountability for keys, alarm codes, equipment, and supplies
  • Maintain confidentiality of information and adheres to chain of command
  • Act in a professional manner and maintain a professional attitude toward students, colleagues, administration, and the public
  • Review current developments, literature, and technical source information related to the job
  • Ensure adherence to established safety procedures
  • Follow federal and state laws, as well as Board policies
