Job Summary
Conduct comprehensive cleaning of classrooms, hallways, offices, and surrounding grounds, including vacuuming, mopping, scrubbing, waxing floors, and dusting. Maintain inventory of cleaning supplies, replace light bulbs and filters, and perform minor repairs as needed. Secure the building daily and monitor heating and cooling systems. Set up rooms for meetings and programs, gather trash, and rake debris. Work indoors and outdoors under sustained physical demands, traveling among center locations as required. Ensure the physical environment remains safe and clean for children and families in accordance with Head Start Performance Standards.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- six (6) months custodial/maintenance experience
- knowledge principles of safe, cleaning practices
- ability to travel among center locations and out of town as needed
- ability to make minor, maintenance repairs
- ability to stand for sustained periods of time
- ability to sit for sustained periods of time
- ability to walk for sustained periods of time including performing cleaning tasks and facility maintenance
- ability to use hands and fingers to stir, open containers, feel, operate a computer, and perform picking, pinching and whole hand or arm handling tasks
- ability to climb stairs
- ability to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl as needed when working to perform facility maintenance
- ability to reach, extending arms in any direction
- ability to push or pull objects weighing up to 50 pounds
- ability to talk in order to accurately exchange information
- ability to hear in order to accurately exchange information
- ability to see clearly in order to perform all duties, use a computer, and for reading and writing
- ability to work in indoor and outdoor conditions
