Job Summary
Custodian responsible for cleaning, safety, and upkeep of a school environment. Performs daily cleaning of classrooms, hallways, restrooms, cafeteria, offices, and common areas; sweeps, mops, vacuums, and buffs floors; cleans and restocks restrooms; assists with event setup and breakdown; performs minor maintenance (e.g., light bulbs, unclogging drains) and reports facilities issues; monitors custodial supply inventory; ensures exterior areas are clean and accessible; supports seasonal deep-cleaning and campus readiness; adheres to TMSA safety protocols for cleaning chemicals and equipment; requires ability to follow instructions and work independently.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED preferred; equivalent work experience accepted
- Minimum 1 year of custodial, janitorial, or facilities maintenance experience
- Knowledge of cleaning techniques, chemicals, and equipment safe for a school environment
- Ability to perform physical tasks including lifting up to 50 lbs, bending, and standing for extended periods
- Dependable, punctual, and able to work independently with minimal supervision
- Basic communication skills in English; ability to follow written and verbal instructions
