Job Summary
Custodian position for an afternoon shift at South University, responsible for cleaning and maintenance of campus buildings, including opening/locking spaces, cleaning restrooms and common areas, trash removal, carpet and floor care, minor repairs, and responding to special requests. Requires high school diploma or GED and 6 months in housekeeping; emphasizes attention to safety, teamwork, communication, and ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work independently with minimal supervision. Benefits include medical, dental, vision, tuition assistance, retirement plan, and PTO. Work hours: Mon-Thu 11-7 or 12-8 and Saturday 9-4, in Columbia, SC.
Required Qualifications
- High school degree required or GED required
- 6 months experience in the housekeeping industry
- 2 years of experience in the housekeeping industry preferably in a post-secondary institution
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong interpersonal skills with a wide variety of populations
- Ability to analyze problems and recommend solutions
- Ability to interact effectively as a leader or a team member and work collaboratively with other departments
- Ability to lift up to 25 pounds frequently and up to 50 pounds occasionally
- Ability to stand and walk for lengthy periods of time
