Job Summary
Maintain a clean working environment for all staff and visitors at the Salvation Army building and grounds by cleaning and sanitizing bathrooms, sweeping floors, and emptying trash cans daily. Perform general maintenance tasks including polishing mirrors, buffing floors, cleaning windows, dusting furniture, and assisting with minor repairs like replacing light bulbs. Keep storage areas orderly, monitor light fixtures, and ensure grounds and roofs remain free of trash. Set up tables and chairs for meeting rooms and special events as needed. Work inside and outside in extreme temperatures, lifting heavy materials frequently while interacting professionally with the public and Salvation Army staff. Adhere to Salvation Army policies and procedures.
Required Qualifications
- Ability to read and communicate in the English language
- Ability to exert the physical energy required to perform housekeeping and minor maintenance work
- Ability to interact professionally with the public and Salvation Army Officers and staff
- Valid State Driver's License
- Approved Background Check and Motor Vehicle Request
- Ability to lift and carry and/or push/pull heavy (over 50lbs.) materials, supplies, and equipment frequently
- Heavy mobility duties are usually performed by combinations of standing, walking, climbing ladders or steps, bending, and reaching
- The worker is subject to inside and outside environmental conditions with activities occurring inside, and the worker is subject to extreme cold and heat with temperatures typically below 32° or above 100° for periods of more than one hour
- Abide by Salvation Army Policies and Procedures and have an acceptance of Salvation Army philosophy and mission
- one (1) year of experience driving a heavy-duty truck or large van such as a box truck
- any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities
