Job Summary
Under direct supervision, perform general cleaning of state facilities using cleaning equipment and materials to create a safe, hygienic environment. Clean and sanitize offices, restrooms, showers, laundry rooms, classrooms and other areas; dust, mop, vacuum, wash windows and fixtures; operate cleaning equipment such as strippers, buffers, burnishers, power washers and vacuums; observe safety procedures; provide security by ensuring doors/windows are secured when appropriate; replace light bulbs and report equipment issues; move and arrange furniture for meetings/events; maintain logs of work, inventory and supplies, and prepare routine reports. Requires basic knowledge of cleaning agents, materials, equipment, and safety practices; ability to learn new methods/equipment; ability to work with supervisors, coworkers, vendors and the public. Minimum qualifications include a high school diploma or equivalent and custodial/janitorial experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Preferred qualifications include prior higher education institution experience. This position is full-time, reports to the Department of Custodial Services at the West Charleston Campus, and offers a comprehensive benefits package; starting salary is $38,043.36 annually. Required Qualifications
- Graduation from high school or equivalent education
- six months of custodial or janitorial experience in a commercial, industrial, hospital, governmental or similar environment
- OR six months of general work experience and six months of custodial or janitorial experience in a commercial industrial, hospital, governmental or similar environment
- OR six months of experience as a Custodial Worker Trainee in Nevada State service
- OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above
