Job Summary
Conduct general cleaning, maintenance, and minor repairs of school facilities, including sweeping, mopping, buffing floors, vacuuming carpets, and cleaning restrooms. Set up and break down lunchroom and event spaces, remove trash, and unlock or secure buildings at the end of shifts. Monitor building areas during evening use, respond to special requests from administration and staff, and inspect mechanical systems like boilers and HVAC to report issues. Perform outdoor maintenance such as mowing, watering, snow removal, and playground equipment checks. Maintain tools, equipment, and custodial supplies in proper working order while documenting facility concerns.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Knowledge of custodial and basic building maintenance practices
- Ability to perform custodial duties and minor repairs
- Ability to inspect facilities and identify maintenance needs
- Ability to communicate effectively and follow directions
- Ability to work cooperatively with others
- Skill in using tools, equipment, and materials of the trade
- Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 100 pounds on an occasional basis
- Ability to alternate between sitting, standing, and walking for extended periods throughout the shift
- Ability to bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach at or above shoulder level, and climb stairs or ladders
- Manual dexterity to operate tools, equipment, and cleaning machinery
- Ability to grasp, hold, and manipulate objects of varying size and weight
- Ability to receive, process, and communicate information through vision, hearing, and other assisted means, with or without reasonable accommodation
