Job Summary

Assist senior curators with research, planning, and realization of upcoming exhibitions, including writing, editing, and producing publications and wall texts. Catalog the collection and archives, manage bibliographic records, and conduct daily gallery inspections to monitor works on view. Perform exhibition support functions such as loan correspondence, checklist research, and public program planning while maintaining collection and loans. Act as a liaison with external organizations and internal departments, and assist in acquisition research by communicating with dealers, galleries, and collectors. Conduct gallery tours as needed and keep informed of current departmental activity through visits and publications.

Required Qualifications

  • Master's degree in art history with expertise in modern and contemporary art
  • Specialized knowledge of the mid-century period in Africa
  • One to two years' experience working in a museum or supporting loan exhibitions and accompanying publications
  • Superior research, writing, and editing skills
  • Proficiency in French language
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to successfully work as part of a team
  • Working knowledge of Google Suite and Microsoft Office Suite include MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

Desired Qualifications

  • Familiarity with The Museum System (TMS)
