Job Summary

Curatorial Assistant in the Department of Drawing and Prints supports senior curators in research, planning, and realization of upcoming exhibitions and gallery rotations; assists in producing Museum publications and exhibition-related materials (wall texts, labels); researches and catalogs the collection and archives; supports exhibition-related functions including bibliographic and checklist research, loan correspondence, publication research and production, website development, and public program planning; maintains collection and loans, expedites custodial/registration/conservation preparation; serves as liaison with external parties and internal departments; may assist with acquisitions research and preparation; stays informed on departmental activities; conducts daily gallery inspections and assists with damage follow-up; answers inquiries and conducts visitor gallery tours; performs other duties as needed. Requirements include a minimum of a master’s degree in art history, strong research and writing skills, excellent organizational skills, proficiency with MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and familiarity with TMS; proficiency in a second language (French preferable) is a plus.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of a master’s degree in art history
  • Relevant work experience and competence within the Department’s interest
  • Academic and/or curatorial interest in modern works on paper is a plus
  • Demonstrated ability to adapt research and curatorial work across different periods, geographies, and subject areas
  • Proficiency in a second language (French preferable)
  • Superior research and writing skills
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Working knowledge of MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and other standard office procedures; Familiarity with The Museum System (TMS) is helpful
