Job Summary
Manage project budgets, staffing, and invoicing while tracking multiple archaeological surveys to ensure completion on schedule and within financial constraints. Conduct in-field analysis and scientific studies across Arizona and the Southwest, organizing fieldwork mobilization and providing QA/QC for all data collection and client deliverables. Produce high-quality reports adhering to agency and SHPO/THPO standards through regular communication with supervisors, field technicians, and line staff. Travel 25-50% of the time to rugged terrain in varying weather conditions, mentoring junior personnel and participating in business development meetings. Requires a valid driver's license, ability to obtain government clearance, and experience with artifact identification and site recording.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of 3 years of demonstrated experience with Class III archaeological surveys, monitoring, and testing projects in the Southwest
- Experience with artifact identification/classification
- Experience with in-field documentation procedures using tablets
- Knowledge of site recording processes
- Knowledge of land managing agency requirements
- Possesses a strong work ethic with a developed and mature sense of professionalism
- Possesses strong technical writing skills demonstrated in completion of Class I and Class III reports
- Demonstrates a strong comprehension of computer programs such as Word, Excel, Adobe, and Outlook
- Willingness and desire to learn as well as ask questions
- Ability to follow written and oral instruction
- Displays excellent communication and interpersonal skills and attention to detail
- Ability and willingness to travel to various field locations on various occasions
- Ability to walk and conduct fieldwork across rugged terrain and in inclement weather
- Willingness to work irregular hours (e.g., early mornings, late nights, weekends)
- Ability to work in a fast-paced dynamic setting
- Ability to consistently maintain high performance standards
- Demonstrate a high level of organization
- Ability to effectively communicate ideas and processes
- Must pass pre-employment background check
- Must pass pre-employment drug screening
- Must possess a valid driver's license with all necessary endorsements
- Applicants are required to have REAL ID ACT compliant documentation at time of hire
- Nothing on record that would prohibit employment on federal government contracts
- Proof of citizenship
- Ability to obtain and hold a Secret or Higher US Government Clearance
- Must be able to obtain Government Clearance
Desired Qualifications
- Master's degree in Archaeology or closely related field
- Previously listed on a variety of federal and state permits in Arizona, Nevada, New Mexico, and Utah
- Strong understanding of Section 106 and 110 of the National Historic Preservation Act
- Managed/participated in small-scale surveys or testing projects
- Hold or be listed on an AAA, BLM, and Region 3 permits as a Field Director
