Job Summary
Oversee client experience and education in Native American Traditions and Spiritual Awareness, meeting with all new clients within the first week of their treatment. Act as a subject matter expert on Indigenous, tribal, and Native American topics in program decision-making while coordinating with directors to ensure viable information is passed along. Maintain healthy boundaries and ethical practices while tracking client progress using Electronic Medical Records software. Contribute to creative ideas for courses, programs, and policy regarding NA needs and healing, and provide Nat-Su employees with education on Native American culture, teachings, history, and spirituality. Hold and run a Nat-Su sweat lodge as needed. Maintain familiarity with a variety of Native American Customs and Traditions, the 12 steps, and the Great Basin, with a deep understanding of historical trauma and its impact on Native American communities.
Required Qualifications
- Familiar with a variety of Native American Customs and Traditions
- Knowledgeable in the 12 steps
- Familiar with the Great Basin
- Understanding of historical trauma and its impact on Native American communities
- Proficient in PC skills including electronic records systems and Microsoft Office
- Lived experience and knowledge as an Elder among the Native American population
- Deep understanding of Native American cultures, including protocols, languages, traditions, and the diversity among Tribal nations
- Effective verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
- Ability to be open and receive directions and feedback
- Must be able to hold and run a Nat-Su sweat lodge
Desired Qualifications
- Knowledgeable in the 12 steps (Red Road to Wellbriety preferred)
