Job Summary
Engage, motivate, and develop staff while supervising all aspects of food production to maintain profitable F&B operations and high-quality service levels. Communicate training needs to the Executive Chef, oversee setup and breakdown of sections, and monitor holding, storage, and sanitation standards. Support food safety training, explain menu items to Front of House, and enforce local health laws to ensure a safe, clean environment. Requires 2+ years in fine dining or upscale casual settings, flexibility for any shift including evenings, weekends, and holidays, and proficiency in English. Located at the Study at University of Chicago in Hyde Park, this British-inspired gastropub offers a dynamic culinary leadership role within a full-service hotel.
Required Qualifications
- Strong desire to continually learn and the ability to maintain a courteous demeanor
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
- 2+ years experience in a fine dining or upscale casual environment
- Excellent understanding of various cooking methods, ingredients, equipment, and procedures
- Flexibility to work any shift, including evenings, weekends, and holidays
- Excellent verbal and written interpersonal communication skills
- Proficiency in English
- Strong organizational skills, including follow-up, time management, ability to multi-task and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to grasp, lift and or carry, or otherwise, move goods weighing a maximum of 50 lbs
