Job Summary
Culinary Program Instructor needed to deliver introductory culinary program for preschool through teens at the Town of Newmarket Youth Centre. Responsibilities include delivering curriculum, creating equipment lists and development plans, ensuring accurate attendance and completing required paperwork, managing class and preparation time, maintaining room setup and safety, coordinating with Recreation staff, and submitting Health and Safety documentation. Availability to work evenings and weekends at multiple sites is required. Certifications such as Standard First Aid with CPR-C, Safe Food Handlers, and High Five are required before start date, with ongoing renewal as needed. Location: Youth Centre - Newmarket, ON.
Required Qualifications
- 1-year experience instructing or supporting preschool and children programming in a recreational or ideally culinary setting
- Experience in delivery of programs for preschool, children and youth in a recreation setting, with culinary program delivery a strong asset
- Strong interpersonal, team effectiveness, communication, organizational and leadership skills
- Strong customer service and administrative skills
- Availability/flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and at different sites as required
- Current Standard First Aid and CPR-C certification required
- Safe Food Handlers Certification
- Current High Five Principles of Healthy Child Development certification required (Preschool-Youth classes)
- Due to the nature of the contacts of this position a Police Vulnerable Sector Check satisfactory to the Town is required
- Please Note: Certifications are not required at time of application but must be obtained prior to job commencement. The Town of Newmarket may offer opportunities for certification.
