Job Summary
Lead culinary enrichment classes and cooking sessions for children, managing student behavior, engagement, and classroom flow while teaching kitchen safety and basic cooking skills. Prepare classroom materials and food efficiently, distribute handouts, and reinforce life lessons centered on nutrition and culture. Review lesson plans weekly, complete recorded training videos, and attend pre-semester sessions. Communicate proactively with supervisors, report incidents using incident reports, and submit feedback after each class. Maintain a consistent after-school schedule between 2:00 PM and 6:00 PM, commit to a weekly schedule throughout the semester, and lift supplies up to 35 pounds.
Required Qualifications
- Experience working with children in a leadership, instructional, or support role
- Ability to effectively manage and engage a group of students in an active, hands-on environment
- Strong communication skills
- High level of reliability
- Willingness to learn, receive feedback, and continuously improve
- Must pass a background check and LiveScan
- TB clearance required
- Availability during after-school hours (typically between 2:00 PM–6:00 PM)
- Ability to commit to a consistent weekly schedule throughout the semester
- Ability to review lesson plans and training materials prior to classes
- Ability to lift classroom supplies and equipment up to 35 pounds
- Ability to stand, walk, and actively engage with students throughout class sessions
Desired Qualifications
- Experience working with children in a classroom, camp, enrichment, or youth program setting
- Experience teaching, coaching, mentoring, or leading groups
- Culinary, food service, or food handling experience
- CPR and/or First Aid certification
