Job Summary
Assist with food preparation according to established menus and serve residents at breakfast, lunch, and dinner daily. Perform daily general cleaning duties in the kitchen and dining room, including washing and storing dishes, while maintaining a safe, secure, and orderly environment. Follow departmental procedures for sanitation, safety, and cleaning schedules, and respond promptly to residents' requests for assistance. Communicate effectively in a language each resident understands, observe and report safety hazards, and follow emergency policies. Assist with training new employees and take on special projects or assignments as requested. Ensure a dignified and caring atmosphere for residents, families, and visitors while complying with attendance policies and HIPAA regulations.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
- Less than one year related experience or training
- Equivalent combination of education and experience
- Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos
- Ability to write simple correspondence
- Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions
- Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations

- Ability to refrain from discussing resident care issues with families and visitors and refer all inquiries to immediate supervisor
- Ability to work as a team player with other associates and management in accomplishing work assignments
- Ability to demonstrate a positive and respectful attitude about work issues, policies, and procedures
- Ability to demonstrate a positive and respectful attitude with residents, families, visitors, associates, and management
- Ability to respond promptly and courteously to residents' and family members' requests for assistance
