Job Summary
Assist with food preparation according to the established menu and serve residents in the dining room at breakfast, lunch, and dinner daily. Perform daily general cleaning duties in the kitchen and dining room, including washing and storing dishes, while maintaining a clean, safe, and orderly environment. Follow departmental procedures for sanitation, safety, and cleaning schedules, and observe and report safety hazards immediately to the supervisor. Respond promptly and courteously to residents' and family members' requests for assistance, communicating effectively in a language each resident understands. Maintain a dignified and caring atmosphere by demonstrating a positive attitude with residents, families, visitors, and associates, while ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations and the golden rule. Assist with training new employees and take on special projects or assignments as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
- Less than one year related experience or training
- Equivalent combination of education and experience
- Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos
- Ability to write simple correspondence
- Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions
- Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations
