Job Summary
Conduct comprehensive evaluations of patients with brain injuries, spinal cord injuries, and strokes to set measurable goals and adjust treatment plans for maximum independence. Plan, organize, and coordinate recreation activities, functional leisure skills, and community reintegration programs while monitoring patient progress and modifying objectives as needed. Interview patients to assess capabilities and barriers, then communicate their needs, status changes, and discharge recommendations to the interdisciplinary team, physicians, and family members. Maintain all evaluation, treatment, and billing documentation in compliance with state, federal, and corporate regulations.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Therapeutic Recreation Therapy, or the equivalent
- Maintains certification as a Certified Therapeutic Recreation Therapist (CTRT) through the National Council for Therapeutic Recreation Certification (NCTRC)
- Maintains professional license and/or certification if required by the state in which the CTRS practices
- Minimum of two years therapeutic therapy experience and therapeutic recreation program design
- Experience working with patients with neurologic or orthopedic injuries or conditions
- Demonstrates effective and professional interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
- Able to work independently and part of a team
- Demonstrates strong organization skills and attention to detail
- Has reliable transportation and can travel to/from multiple assignments/locations on a daily basis
