Job Summary
Develop and deliver TEKS-aligned Health Science lessons integrating classroom, laboratory, simulation, and hands-on instruction using appropriate healthcare equipment. Differentiate instruction to meet diverse student needs while assessing learning through formative and summative measures to adjust teaching strategies. Coordinate clinical, practicum, internship, and job-shadowing experiences, verifying student documentation before off-campus or patient-care participation. Maintain a safe, organized learning environment by enforcing infection-control procedures, managing equipment inventories, and supporting district audits. Collaborate with advisory committees, healthcare employers, and community partners to strengthen programs and promote equitable student access to college and careers.
Required Qualifications
- Health Science Certification, Grades 9-12
- Health Science Technology Education Certification, Grades 8-12
- Vocational Health Occupations Certification
- Vocational Health Science Technology Certification
- Current, unrestricted license as a Registered Nurse (RN), with eligibility to teach under applicable state and district requirements
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university
- Current professional healthcare license, registration, or certification when required for the assigned courses
- Documented wage-earning experience in an approved healthcare occupation, as required by the Texas Education Agency for the applicable certificate or assignment
- Current CPR/AED and first-aid certification, or ability to obtain within the district's required timeline
Desired Qualifications
- Experience teaching secondary Health Science or providing training in a healthcare setting
- Experience preparing students for industry-based certification examinations
- Experience supervising clinical, practicum, internship, or other work-based learning experiences
- Knowledge of local healthcare employers, postsecondary programs, and community partnerships
