Job Summary
Family & Consumer Science Career Exploration and Elective Teacher, grades 9-12, delivers online instruction in Ohio Virtual Academy (OHVA) using Stride K12 tools. Responsible for providing synchronous/asynchronous learning experiences, differentiating instruction, monitoring student progress, communicating with families/learning coaches, and preparing students for post-secondary outcomes. Requires collaboration with school and coach, maintaining grade books, and supporting a data-driven instructional model. Role includes travel for face-to-face professional development (approximately monthly up to 25%), while primarily operating within a home-office online environment. Minimum qualifications include a bachelor’s degree and active CTE teaching certification (or active high school certification with CTE validation); ability to pass background checks; proficiency in Microsoft Office tools; ability to work independently and adapt to technology-enabled teaching. Desired qualifications include experience with online teaching, project-based learning, and experience supporting adults and children with technology.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree
- Active CTE state teaching certification OR Active high school grade level state teaching certification with CTE Validation
- Ability to clear required background check(s)
- Residence in Ohio
- Ability to work independently in online environment
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Outlook, Word; PowerPoint
- Experience or ability to collaborate with teachers to interpret and use data for instructional decisions
- Experience teaching or working in online/virtual environments
- Ability to adapt to new technologies and teaching platforms
- Project-based learning experience (DESIRED)
