Job Summary
In Irving ISD, Culinary Arts Teacher within the Career and Technical Education program delivers a standards-based, hands-on and project-based curriculum that integrates industry certifications and prepares students for postsecondary opportunities and entry-level careers. Teaches Hospitality and Tourism per TEKS, uses industry-standard software, aims to help students achieve certifications, collaborates with special education staff to adapt curricula, engages with the Hospitality and Tourism Advisory Board and FCCLA, and promotes student growth through formative and summative assessments, while maintaining professional communication with families and the community.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree
- 3-5 years recent (within the last 8 years) full-time industry working experience
- Preferred Texas teaching certificate for subject/level or ability to acquire certifications
- Any home economics or homemaking certificate
- Family and Consumer Sciences, Composite: Grades 6-12
- Hospitality, Nutrition, and Food Sciences: Grades 8-12
- Trade and Industrial Education: Grades 6-12 (requires work approval)
- Trade and Industrial Education: Grades 8-12 (requires work approval)
- Trade and Industrial Workforce Training: Grades 6-12 (requires work approval)
- Industry experience required
- Demonstrated competency in the subject area assigned
- Knowledge of curriculum and instruction
- Proficient in industry software or willingness to train
- Ability to instruct students and manage behavior
- Strong organizational, communication and interpersonal skills
- Fluent with technology use
- Understanding of career opportunities and skills for employment
- Self-motivated with excellent work ethic
