Job Summary

Coordinate career development services for students in the Career Academy, serving as the primary point of contact and promoting the academy model. Collaborate with school leaders, industry partners, and community organizations to facilitate work-based learning events, recruit advisory board members, and maintain student participation data. Manage program administration, including marketing materials, student recruitment, and monitoring academic performance to ensure fidelity to the academy model. Collect and analyze academy data to support decision-making and communicate progress to parents and stakeholders. Assist with interventions for students and participate in district-wide planning and professional learning. Travel to business and industry sites for field trips and site visits.

Required Qualifications

  • Considerable knowledge of Microsoft Office, specifically, Microsoft Word, Excel (analyzing data and performing calculations using databases and spreadsheets), Power Point; Google Apps
  • Demonstrated leadership and team building skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Ability to analyze data to make short and long-range decisions about the Career Academy
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely both in oral and written form using a variety of communication techniques and tools to ensure the appropriate flow of information, collaborative efforts, and feedback
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with school officials, school administrators, teachers, support staff, Career Advisory Board members and other stakeholders
  • Bachelor's Degree and current Continuing Professional license in any Career and Technical Education Program Area
  • Current Continuing Professional license as a School Counselor at the G level
  • Must hold or be eligible for licensing as a Career Development Coordinator (747) or Career Development Facilitator (741)
  • Must hold and maintain a valid motor vehicle operator's license according to the State of NC requirements
  • Must be able to come into direct contact with school system staff, staff members of external funding agencies, and the community
  • Work is considered light physical work, requiring the exertion of up to ten pounds of force
  • Travel to business/industry for site visits and on field trips with students is required
