Job Summary
Conduct CT scans by positioning patients, administering contrast agents, and ensuring radiation safety per standard operating procedures. Prepare equipment, manage room supplies, and perform quality control on examinations while entering studies into RIS and PACS systems. Assist physicians during procedures, complete necessary documentation, and rotate shifts covering weekends with on-call responsibilities. Provide patient education, mentor student technologists, and maintain equipment logs. Work night shifts 16 hours weekly as a part-time staff member at RWJ Barnabas Health in Somerville, NJ.
Required Qualifications
- Three years hospital experience as a staff technologist
- State of New Jersey License
- ARRT
- CT certification
- CPR certification
- Night shift
- 16 hours/week
- Part-Time Schedule
- Ability to work with minimal supervision
- Willingness to obtain CT certification within 12-24 months of hire
- Willingness to obtain CPR certification within six months of hire
- Willingness to rotate shifts covering weekends
- Willingness to be on-call
Desired Qualifications
- Ability to position all anatomical parts as indicated by the Standard Operating Procedures
- Proven competency in the administration of IV contrast media, to include venipuncture
- Ability to enter studies in RIS and HIS, and track cases
- Ability to split and fix studies in PACS as necessary
- Ability to perform a variety of related clerical tasks
- Ability to cooperate with all hospital personnel in a positive and professional manner
- Ability to maintain a positive and loyal attitude towards employer
- Ability to attend the majority of educational in-services
- Ability to explain procedures to the patient and answer any questions prior to the commencement of the procedures
- Ability to assist in the instruction of student technologists
- Ability to demonstrate technical art to the students
- Ability to evaluate student performance and fill out observation forms
