Job Summary
Position patients for CT examinations according to physician specifications and administer IV contrast media and cleansing preps under radiologist direction. Ensure equipment is available, maintain stock, and perform quality control on scans while troubleshooting and logging maintenance issues. Assist physicians in procedures, complete related clerical tasks, and rotate shifts covering weekends with on-call duties. Evaluate student technologist performance, demonstrate technical skills, and attend required in-service training. Prioritize patient safety and adhere to standard operating procedures throughout the 16-hour weekly night schedule.
Required Qualifications
- Able to position all anatomical parts as indicated by the Standard Operating Procedures
- Ensures all necessary equipment is at hand prior to starting the ordered examination
- Under the direction of a Radiologist, instructs and administers cleansing preps and contrast agents
- Transfers and properly position patients for examinations in order to obtain desired radiographic results according to physician specifications
- Assists physicians in performance of examinations
- Proven competency in the administration of IV contrast media, to include venipuncture
- Maintains room and room's stock
- Responsible for necessary equipment maintenance recommendations and trouble shooting when indicated
- Keeps all necessary equipment maintenance logs which pertain to preventative maintenance of Emergency service
- Responsible for quality control of Cat scan examinations
- Uses the computer system according to standard operating procedures
- Performs a variety of related clerical tasks as necessary
- Cooperates with all hospital personnel in a positive and professional manner, maintaining ethical relationships
- Rotates shifts covering weekends and on-call
- Attends in-service training as required by the department
- Assists in the instruction of student technologists
- Able to demonstrate technical art to the students
- Able to evaluate student performance and fill out observation forms
- Prioritizes the patient as number one
- Put forth the utmost quality as a CT Technologist
- Able to work with minimal supervision
- Three years hospital experience as a staff technologist preferred
