Perform medically prescribed radiographic and computed tomography (CT) procedures using CT scanners to produce cross-sectional images of patients' internal organs and tissues. Accurately interpret physician orders, administer contrast materials, prepare and operate CT equipment, and position patients to obtain high-quality diagnostic images. Follow accepted radiologic practices to determine appropriate imaging protocols, consult policy manuals for compliance, and independently perform patient examinations in accordance with departmental policies. Assess patient history and condition to determine appropriate imaging procedures, verify correct patient identification, and clearly explain procedures to ensure patient cooperation. Demonstrate proficiency with hospital and radiology information systems to schedule exams, verify orders, and document exam details while maintaining HIPAA compliance. Perform visual and manual quality control checks of radiographic equipment, operate imaging peripherals safely, and report equipment malfunctions to appropriate personnel.
