Job Summary
Perform diagnostic CT exams on patients using specialized equipment, ensuring proper identification, order verification, and adherence to radiation safety guidelines. Review images for quality, clarity, and accuracy while completing studies within acceptable time limits. Assist and instruct students on exam protocols, positioning, and equipment operation, providing patient education and ensuring comfort. Maintain accurate records of procedures and adverse reactions, following protocols for medical necessity, coding, and equipment failure reporting. Operate CT equipment and information systems to generate high-quality imaging results in a fast-paced environment.
Required Qualifications
- 7 on-7 off graveyard schedule
- Shifts from 8pm to 6am or 9pm to 7am
- American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) or modality-specific competency in all clinical and technical functions
- Proper patient identification, order verification, and preparation for exam
- Performance of exams per department protocol with review for quality, clarity, and accuracy
- Adherence to radiation safety guidelines
- Completion of studies within acceptable time limits
- Assistance and instruction of students and other CT Techs in exam protocols, procedures, positioning, and equipment
- Appropriate patient education, comfort, and concern addressing
- Appropriate infection control and sterile techniques
- Understanding and operation of CT equipment and related information systems
- Accurate record keeping of patient information, procedures, adverse reactions
- Adherence to protocols for medical necessity, coding, charging, consents, QC programs, and reporting equipment failures

- Relevant State licensure (where required)
- Basic Life Support certification (BLS) for healthcare providers
- 1+ years CT experience
- Ability to see and read information, labels, assess patient needs, operate monitors, identify equipment and supplies
- Ability to verbally communicate and hear spoken information, alarms, needs, and issues quickly and accurately during emergency situations
- Manual dexterity of hands and fingers to manipulate complex and delicate equipment with precision and accuracy
- Ability to lift and utilize full range of movement to transfer patients
- Ability to bend to retrieve, lift, and carry supplies and equipment up to and including heavy items
- Ability to walk and assist with transporting/ambulating patients and obtaining and distributing supplies and equipment
- Ability to stand in a stationary position for an extended period of time
Desired Qualifications
- American Registry of Radiologic Technologists Computed Tomography Certification/Registration (ARRT)(RT)(CT)
- Completion of the controlled substance module
- Completion of the initial moderate sedation module
- Specific facility-based certifications (if applicable)
