Job Summary
Execute basic clinical competency in CT across all patient populations, selecting appropriate technical factors and administering contrast per facility policy. Assist with invasive procedures under CT guidance, transport patients to the scanner, and verify orders to ensure proper scanning protocols. Maintain a clean, safe work environment, perform quality control on equipment, and process examinations for interpretation while distributing final images to the PACS system. Prioritize patient flow, coordinate care with care teams, and provide patient education to promote comfort and cooperation. Adhere to Image Wisely and Image Gently principles to support radiation dose reduction.
Required Qualifications
- Associate degree
- Certificate in Radiologic Technology from a program accredited by an agency recognized by the U.S. Department of Education (USDE), the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA), or the Medical Education and Training Campus (METC)
- Less than 1 year to 6 months of CT experience
- Successful completion of a CT certificate or cross-training program
- Registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) in Radiography [ARRT(R)] and Computed Tomography [ARRT(CT)]
- Registered by the Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB) in Computed Tomography [NMTCB(CT)]
- 10 years of CT scanning experience (applicable only to internal candidates employed prior to July 1, 2026)
- Basic Life Support (BLS) / Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification
- Knowledge of cross-sectional anatomy
- Knowledge of CT principles and practices, including anatomy and physiology, radiation safety, physics, patient positioning, and patient care techniques
- Knowledge of Image Wisely and Image Gently principles
- Knowledge of aseptic technique and sterile processes
- Knowledge of Joint Commission, state, federal, organizational, and departmental regulatory requirements and standards
- Knowledge of ARRT Standards of Ethics
