Job Summary
CT Technologist in a Metairie, LA freestanding ED setting collaborates with staff radiologists to perform routine CT procedures safely and in accordance with radiation safety protocols. The role includes acting as a clinical mentor for junior staff and students, verifying orders, operating radiology information systems, and ensuring diagnostic-quality images. Responsibilities span from imaging to contributing to departmental operations, staying current with regulatory standards, and maintaining compliance with the Ochsner Health system. Proficiency with CT procedures, Windows-based software, data entry, and flexible clinical skills is required; licensure and ARRT registration are mandatory.
Required Qualifications
- Completion of a formal training program
- Work Experience
- Registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT)
- Licensed by the Louisiana State Radiology Technology Board of Examiners
- Must have computer skills and dexterity for data entry and retrieval of patient information
- Proficient with Windows-style applications and keyboard
- Knowledge of CT procedures and technical language
- Verifies physician order and procedure to assure accuracy
- Utilizes radiology information systems to facilitate care
- Independently operates CT imaging equipment (including IV placement)
- Reviews images for diagnostic quality
- Completes quality control procedures in accordance with regulatory standards
- Assists in departmental operations (inventory, staff schedules, equipment maintenance)
- Complies with system-wide Compliance & Privacy Program and Standards of Conduct
