Job Summary
Perform computed tomography procedures utilizing established scan protocols, including contrast administration, with independent technical judgment to adjust settings and administer ionizing radiation appropriately. Operate complex imaging equipment for image acquisition, analysis, and documentation while troubleshooting issues proactively to minimize downtime. Administer contrast media per physician orders, assess patients for contraindications, and identify all patients using two identifiers prior to procedures. Ensure exams are coded and tracked through the RIS system, communicate instructions compassionately to patients, and maintain strict confidentiality. Maintain strict confidentiality of patient data and promote adherence to the Health Sciences Compliance Program and HIPAA. Schedule is day shift (3:00 PM – 1:30 AM) with weekend and holiday coverage as needed; pay range is $30.56 – $48.90/hr. Tuition remission at Howard University is available for you and/or eligible dependent children.
Required Qualifications
- American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) certification as a Radiologic Technologist
- ARRT CT registry certification (ARRT(CT))
- Current licensure as a Radiologic Technologist in the District of Columbia (or eligibility)
- Minimum two (2) years of experience as a CT Technologist
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association
- Knowledge of cross-sectional anatomy of the head, thorax, and abdomen
- Familiarity with CT terminology, scan protocols, and ALARA principles
- Ability to lift moderate loads, stand for extended periods, and meet the physical demands of this role as outlined in the position description
- Weekend and holiday coverage
- Schedule: 3:00 PM – 1:30 AM
Desired Qualifications
- Experience with advanced CT applications including CT angiography, cardiac CT, and CT-guided procedures
- Experience working in a high-volume academic medical center or Level I Trauma Center setting
- Familiarity with PACS, RIS, and electronic health record systems
