Job Summary
Operate high radiation producing equipment to produce high quality CT images, selecting appropriate exam parameters and adjusting protocols to maintain established dose reference levels per ACR and AAPM guidelines. Evaluate scans for technical quality, complete exams in electronic medical records, and send results to PACS. Screen patients according to CT safety guidelines, obtain histories, verify consents, and provide education to minimize anxiety. Position patients using immobilization and protective equipment while administering contrast media via pressure/power injectors as prescribed. Assist radiologists with procedures, coordinate patient flow, and train new staff members. Maintain current Basic Life Support certification and participate in quality improvement initiatives.
Required Qualifications
- Must have successfully completed an educational program that is accredited by a mechanism acceptable to the ARRT
- Must have and maintain one of the following: American Registry of Radiologic Technologists ARRT (R) and within 1 year ARRT (CT) required
- Must have and maintain one of the following: Nuclear Medicine Technology certification board certified (NMTCB) and within one year ARRT (CT) required
- Must have and maintain one of the following: Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) and within one year ARRT (CT) required
